They Don't Come Any Better Than This

Would like to throw a simple shout out to a woman named MaryAnn Johanson for her short review of a 'close to perfect little (motion) picture' sandwiched in time between my two all-time favourites. The years were '72, '73 & '74, the A's were in their heyday; the Dolphins ruled the world; the Knicks were captioned aptly and forever by Marv, "and here comes Willis"; the Greatest of All Time was on the comeback trail; the "Original Six" were still clearly visible in the rear view mirror; MSG was the epicentre of the known universe; and, classic Hollywood films were being made every year. What a time to be young and a fan in North America.

Pick Of The Day:
GSW -5.5 over TOR (NBA)

Discipline

My favourite definition for this word is one I have yet to see published in a dictionary. First explained to me years 25 years ago my Bob Knight, it best encapsulates the values I associate with the word in a positive light. Modified slightly over the years, today my version reads as follows:

Discipline - n. Doing what you have to do, The way it needs to be done, Every time.

Where the heart is ...

Dabbling in different projects from time to time is an interesting way to occupy oneself, particularly during a slow period, so-to-speak. But, nothing quite matches the feel of returning to what you know you're comfortable with already; like wearing an old pair of slippers around the house after experimenting with a new pair of kicks.

While different can be new and exciting, familiar is where the bread gets buttered day to day.

Picks of the Day:
NYK +3.5 over IND (NBA)
LAC -4.0 over PHO (NBA)
